"Unbelievable, Outrageous and Just Wrong"
Why does this Conservative-led government (and Labour Blairites) have such an obsession with the alledged benefits of the private sector?
Have they not now created enough failures on the health and welfare front for them to just step back a little rather than surging forward from one failure to potentially another. Why on earth are we going to American providers when dealing with matters of public health?
I have just received the following message:

Up just watching TV on and off and the early morning news this morning:
Maximus has won the contract from ATOS for £650 million to do the disability checks for the DWP.
Words to describe this: Unbelievable, outrageous, wrong.
Maximus cannot even get people to engage to write CVs correctly and that has been proved out by ZZZ wanting my CV changed back. Out of the people I saw at this company I think only one person still remains working for them. (Employee retention)
The NHS look after me so why is a middle company required to check me again.
They cannot even keep their computers safe. They have only just stopped sending me e-mails after about 15 attempts and threat of court action. If my name is David, I don’t want to be called Sarah especially when I have Bipolar. The job centre also refused to get them to stop even when they referred me to them on the basis I was a special case due to my Bipolar. They where meant to be better placed to deal with me. This is cooking the books and figures big time.
What the hell is Government doing.
I think all this XXX needs a blog but its yours not mine. The money would be better spent giving people with disabilities housing.
DWP and Maximus did nothing but put me on more tablets I have only just started to have them reduced again. I guess that is a small saving for Government.

I too have Bipolar and have experienced very similar situations. Having a label such as Bipolar causes all sorts of problems in society and therefore you have to be very careful as to who you reveal it to. When applying for a job you can keep it a secret but if anything was to happen to you in the work place then the employer could rightfully sack you. I have been on the long term unemployed now because I chose to declare it to save issues at a later stage but I am not landing any jobs. This causes all sorts of issues with the job centre and their G4S security guards who will punch and verbally abuse you at the drop of a hat. I do not understand why Government feel the need to allow the DWP to vet you when the NHS have already documented you. I too agree that giving Maximus this contract is a waste of money and should go elsewhere on housing or giving NHS nurses pay rises. Atos should never have been given such a contract in the first place.
ReplyDeleteDWP should also look at who they have given their IT contract to as their software in most cases fails to load. New equipment is sitting around in the Job Centre doing nothing. I cannot remember the last time if ever a Job Centre employee found me a job to apply for in relation to my qualifications. Would it not be a good idea that we just sign on through a web page from our own computers or the library. Why employ all these people when not required.
I look forward in anticipation to Government one day making some real changes.
